What’s happening this month in terms of events? Well, not a lot, but at the end of the month there is the bank holiday – a final long weekend in which to enjoy the fading days of summer. August is all about the beach and the sea, so lots of fish and sea food.

On the 12th of August there is grouse – delicious but fiddly. On 15 August the first Vacherin Mont d’Or cheese becomes available, and towards the end of the month the damsons begin.
